Malaysia Food Heritage Festival 2026: a guide before you go
Five days at MaTiC bring food, heritage and local enterprise together. Here is what the organiser has confirmed, and what to check before setting out.

The Malaysia Food Heritage Festival × Temasya Malaysia 2026 is scheduled for 5 to 9 November at the Malaysia Tourism Centre, or MaTiC, on Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur. The organiser lists daily hours of 9am to 11pm. MaTiC’s Malay-language event listing gives the same dates and venue.
This is a planning brief based on published announcements. We have not attended the festival or tasted its food. Programme details were checked on 5 November; confirm the latest arrangements with the organiser before travelling.
What is on the programme?
The organiser describes food stalls, a bazaar for local entrepreneurs, exhibitions, business matching and performances. Heritage is the connecting theme, alongside opportunities for food businesses to introduce their products. These are announced programme categories, rather than a confirmed timetable for every day. See the official programme.
Plan around a question, not just a queue
For a more rewarding visit, pick something you would like to understand: how one ingredient changes across regions, how a family recipe becomes a business, or which preparation steps a maker still does by hand. A focused question gives you a reason to look beyond the most photographed plate.
When a stall is quiet, ask the maker where their version comes from and what distinguishes it. A useful follow-up is which ingredient or technique they would be least willing to change. These are suggestions for your own conversations, not interviews conducted by Staple Atelier.
Four things to confirm before setting out
- Entry: the listing we reviewed does not establish admission charges or ticket requirements. Check directly rather than assuming entry is free.
- Timing: ask for the schedule of any demonstration or performance you want to see. Festival opening hours do not tell you when a particular activity takes place.
- Food requirements: ask individual vendors about ingredients, allergens and any certification you need. A festival theme alone does not establish these details.
- Access: check the venue’s current travel, parking and accessibility information for your needs. We have not verified those arrangements.
Keep the story with the food
If you share a dish from the festival, include the maker’s name and the name they use for it. Ask permission before photographing people or recording a conversation. A caption that preserves a maker’s explanation gives the next reader more to explore than an image without context.
